Our mission is to facilitate regional economic growth with prosperity through strong collaboration between counties.   Since 1997, SW-ITBEC has returned more than $260,000 to its member counties in the form of grants to support local economic development efforts.

  • Major step identified in the Strategic Plan was obtaining tax­ exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) organization

  • Necedah Whooping Crane Festival

  • Grant to the Vernon Economic Development Association during their initial fund raising campaign

  • Valley Stewardship Network received funds to cover some of the expenses for a presentation on creating a sustainable community 

2006

  • Cooperation with Monroe County for a Community Development Block Grant to be used for planning expenses related to increasing exposure and activity at the sheltered workshops

  • Strategic plan has been written and presented to the Department of Commerce

  • Necedah Whooping Crane Festival

  • Financial backer of Waterfest

  • In the process of incorporating and filing for Internal Revenue Service 501 (c) (3) tax designation

  • Awarded funds to the Richland County Economic Development Corporation for development of a PowerPoint Education Program

  • Helped defray costs associated with the creation of an Americorp Service Aids Youthpreneurship Program

  • Partnering with Hidden Valleys on a Discover Wisconsin show showcasing auto audio tours

  • Contributed funds to the Juneau County Economic Development Corporation’s Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club

  • Working with Monroe County for a Community Development Block Grant Planning Grant for working with sheltered workshops

2005

  • Concentrate its efforts on 2 prime areas - healthcare and organic foods

  • Financial support to a Fall 2004 and a Spring 2005 Regional Economic Development presented by the local University of Wisconsin Extension offices

  • Cash match for the Great River Road Promotion Committee

  • Funds to the Juneau County Economic Development Corporation’s Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club

  • Working with Monroe County for a Community Development Block Grant Planning Grant for working with sheltered workshops

  • Financial support of Waterfest

  • Necedah Whooping Crane Festival

  • Support the regional promotion efforts of Hidden Valleys through the purchase of a display ad in their Visitors Guide

2004

  • Enter Phase II of its Strategic Planning process

  • Major underwriter of the Heartland Alliance Project’s German Business Alliance Mission

  • Continuing to work on an audio tour of the area

  • Taken a position of supporting the modernization of the upper Mississippi River lock system

  • Financially supported Waterfest

  • Contributed funds to the Friends of the Kickapoo Reserve for promotion of a triathlon event

  • Supported the Mississippi River Birding Festival

  • Had a display ad promoting the area in the Hidden Valleys magazine

  • Partnered with the other ITBECs to have a joint booth at the WCA Annual Products and Services Show at the annual conference

2003

  • Continued working on the plastic development project

  • Used the itbec.com and southwestwisconsin.net websites to promote tourism and business opportunities in southwestern Wisconsin

  • Covered the shipping cost of brochures and other material from the Southwest ITBEC counties to the Hessen, Germany State Fair (otherwise known as Hessentag)

  • Continued to work to promote “Our Shared Heritage Days” in the Southwest ITBEC counties

  • Continued to work on the Coulee Pathways promotional project

  • Contributed funds for a promotional advertisement in the Honda Wing Ding 25 Official Program

  • Held an all day strategic planning session

  • Contributed funds to both Juneau and Adams Counties for support of Waterfest

  • Contributed funds for the 2003 Necedah Lions Necedah Whooping Crane Festival

  • Contributed funds to the Great River Road Project which includes a Discover Wisconsin program

  • Allocated funding to support Farm Progress Days 2002 in Richland County
